POKOTABI / Naniwakko
居酒屋 なにわっ子
Naniwakko is an izakaya with dishes such as assorted sashimi, salted salmon and hot pots on the menu. Here, we look at one diner’s account of an omakase meal and some of the sake on offer.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
If you’re not sure what to order, choosing omakase is one way to enjoy a sequence of dishes. One diner described an omakase meal priced at 1,700 yen that included a tofu dish, salad, assorted sashimi, a stir-fry of chicken offal and onion, grilled saury and a simmered dish. The sashimi reportedly included amberjack, spear squid, bluefin tuna and seared bluefin tuna. The diner also noted that the saury was rich with fat. This price and selection reflect that person’s visit, but the account offers one example of the varied combinations omakase can include, with both sashimi and grilled fish.
For a more leisurely meal built around individual dishes, the menu includes assorted sashimi, salted salmon, simmered hijiki seaweed, gomame and doteyaki, among other options. For something more substantial, there are hot pots such as pork shabu-shabu, tecchiri and a yudofu hot pot with chicken.
The sake list includes Hokushuu daiginjo, Suishin junmai and Tateyama junmai ginjo, each listed in a 1-go serving of 180 ml. Beer and wine are also available, giving diners a choice of drinks. This izakaya is suited to dinner, and reservations are accepted.
